Charming handmade artist bear Tilly and Her Chick, created by American bear artist Ruth Gallagher of R.E.G. Bears. Tilly dates from 2003 and is from an exceptionally small limited edition of just 12 bears, with this example being number 1 of the edition.
Tilly measures approximately 20cm high and has pale curly fur with black eyes, a large hand-stitched black nose and a wonderfully characterful expression. She is beautifully dressed in a coordinating floral apron with button detailing and a matching fabric headpiece. Nestled against the front of her dress is her tiny chick companion.
She retains her original handwritten artist tag, identifying her as Tilly and recording her limited-edition number.
In good previously owned condition. There is a little grubbiness to the pads of her feet and to her apron, consistent with age and display. Please see the photographs for condition and detail.
A lovely and unusual early-2000s American artist bear, particularly desirable as No. 1 of only 12 made.
