A particularly rare and beautifully made vintage Lundby desk and swivel chair from the limited edition Classic Collection, produced to commemorate Lundby's 40th anniversary in 1987.
Unlike Lundby's standard production furniture, the Classic Collection was entirely handmade from Philippine mahogany, with only 500 numbered examples produced for worldwide distribution. This desk and chair are numbered 468/500.
The substantial pedestal desk is exceptionally detailed, with a rich mahogany finish and nine miniature working drawers, each finished with tiny traditional-style handles. It is accompanied by the wonderfully characterful matching captain's-style chair, with a curved back, open arms and a working swivel pedestal base.
The design was inspired by classic English furniture and the quality and level of miniature craftsmanship make these pieces quite unlike more familiar Lundby furnishings.
The desk and chair formed part of Lundby's special Classic Collection alongside the matching breakfront display cabinet.
A fabulous and genuinely scarce piece of Lundby history, particularly appealing to the serious collector.
